Leadership Faculty Admits Unprecedented Number of Students
The Georgia College Leadership faculty has admitted 50 students into the program’s fall 2020 cohort. The incoming class is the most academically talented and diverse in the program’s history, with an average grade-point average of 3.6 and representing more than twenty majors.
In the Leadership Certificate Program, students can customize their leadership pathway to their respective fields of study. The gateway course, “How to Change the World,” explores the principles of effective leadership. In addition to an upper-level leadership seminar, program students can practice their leadership across the state and around the world. GC leadership students design and complete community-based practicum projects; intern in Washington, D.C.; or study intercultural leadership at the European Study Center in France, receiving practical training in human rights, dispute resolution, peace-building, and intercultural negotiation.
“The Leadership Certificate program helped me define my personal leadership philosophy,” said Julian Lopez, alumnus of the program, who is graduating in May. “This program provided me with countless opportunities to practice my leadership skills both in and out of the classroom through various excursions, group discussions, and a practicum project in my local community.”
